We don't use chinese characters in normal life except few situation. There is own word for korean and that called as "Hun-min-jung-um" or "Han-gul". Chinese charaters disappearing in korean society slowly and gradually.
I remember western learning latin languages(from movie mostly describe it as a boring and a musty book) Well you can think it's same to korean. |

Though korean and japanese use chinese charater, they'll be troubles to understand from each other. China, Korea and Japan read chinese charaters with differant way. They can communicate with text but can not conversation, I'm not sure about it. And don't know what north people learning. north is really isolated country. I learned traditional chinese during my high school but almost forgot now. |

I was born and raised in Korea, I graduated from all the schools in here, I'm just one of the normal Korean people.
AND I've never used just one SINGLE Chinese letter since 2006(reading, writing, whatever), and nothing weird has happened since then, and I also don't think it will. I got a Chinese class at that time in 2006, even before it, I've not used any Chinese words for decades..
Knowing Chinese words might be kinda a symbol of a well-educated man for some Koreans, so some would be very proud of themselves knowing Chinese. But people like me never care about it. And about that CHINESE that they are proud of, we don't even think they're Chinese words but some kinda part of old and traditional Korean language which is barely used thesedays. We don't even call it 'Chinese'! We have our own different name for it.
anyways, u don't need to learn how to speak chinese in here dude it's just strange language as english in here.. |
